OUR
PEOPLE
We feel like the luckiest humans in the world that we have so many incredible people standing by our side on our wedding day.
Meet some of our favourite humans below.
GROOMSMEN

Will Otten
Paul’s Best Man, friend of 16 years, and basically the brother he never had. They’ve lived together through both good and deeply questionable housing situations, with Will generally acting as the calm, level-headed counterweight to Paul’s chaos. He was also the first inductee into Paul’s NARP Club (Non-Athletic Regular Person) after aging out of university volleyball. And if you ever need to cross the border, let Paul drive; Will has already proven he cannot be trusted with directions.

Sam Otten
Sam is the second Otten brother Paul adopted as his own, whether Sam agreed to that arrangement or not. He is significantly calmer than Paul, which is probably necessary considering Sam also expresses affection through poking, prodding, butt slaps, and the occasional well-placed finger where no finger was invited. This is particularly unfortunate for Paul, whose ideal amount of physical contact is generally none.

Jack Otten
Jack is the youngest of the Otten boys and, like his brothers, eventually had to accept Paul as part of the package. He is genuinely one of the smartest people in the room, right up until a board game starts going badly and all logic, reason, and emotional regulation promptly leave the building. He is also the tallest of the brothers and the real reason Paul mysteriously ends up on his tiptoes in every group photo.

Alex McConnell
Alex, the token ginger and the person most likely to figure out exactly what will annoy you, then keep doing it because he knows it works. He has weaponized sarcasm into a personality trait and somehow still manages to be one of the kindest people in the group — though that may become harder to believe once he starts ordering group shots. He will also gladly take full responsibility for influencing a decent number of the evening’s more questionable decisions.

Katryna Sayers
Paul’s younger cousin, the golden child of the family, and someone he has been slowly corrupting for years. She grew up an avid London Knights fan, including one memorable game where she fell asleep on her dad’s knee, tumbled to the floor during a game-winning goal, and went temporarily unnoticed while everyone celebrated. She is also living proof that forgetting the Lactaid before pizza can have consequences for everyone involved.

Spencer Bull
Paul met Spencer the same night he met Will, & the two have been getting into late-night shenanigans together ever since. Spencer eventually moved to BC, and years later one of Paul’s visits to see him is how he met Hillary. Six months after that, rock climbing and a conveniently located best friend gave Paul a much more respectable reason to move across the country than admitting it was for a girl he’d only known half a year. Basically, we can all thank Spencer for this wedding.
BRIDESMAIDS

Autumn Rich
Hillary’s younger sister, Maid of Honour, middle child, and probably the person most likely to turn a perfectly normal situation into something unnecessarily chaotic. Autumn communicates affection almost exclusively through teasing, pranks, bizarre memes, and showing up unannounced like she pays rent. She has very little respect for the concept of “too far” (or personal space), but she is also the person most likely to make sure nobody messes with Hillary and Paul’s day.

Kayley Robb
Hillary and Kayley have been friends for more than 20 years and somehow even survived the deeply risky experiment of working together with Kayley as Hillary’s boss. She has impeccable comedic timing, would happily live in a completely pink universe, and has spent an amount of money on Labubus that probably shouldn’t be discussed publicly. She was also the person who noticed Hillary forgot to add Paul to the wedding party group chat, so clearly someone here is paying attention.

Kylie Mann
Kylie entered Hillary’s life through her husband, Bren, who was originally Hillary’s best friend. Then Kylie showed up; they fell in love (Hill & Kylie, that is), and Bren was quietly demoted. Sorry, B. She is the unofficial mom of the group, has taught Hillary an alarming amount about being a functioning adult, and can be counted on to absolutely dominate the dance floor once the party gets going.

Megan Byers
Hillary and Megan have been friends for more than a decade and have somehow made it through approximately 47 different versions of themselves while still remaining the real-world Cece and Jess (forever 29). Megan may be quiet when you first meet her, but give it time and she’ll undoubtedly be rapping every word to whatever Mac Miller song you request.

Amanda Berriau
Amanda and Hillary have been friends since they were 11, when Hillary arrived in Grade 6 with blue hair and a massive foot cast, which really should have been everyone’s first warning. Hillary got labelled the troublemaker growing up, though Amanda’s involvement remains suspiciously under-investigated. Hillary rewrote and rapped a song for Amanda’s wedding speech, so equal or greater humiliation is now expected.

Audrey Montgomery
Hillary’s baby sister, with a 14-year age gap that has made their relationship equal parts sisterly and slightly parental. Audrey made quite the first impression on Paul when she asked them for a ride to meet a guy and then directed them an hour in the wrong direction. She is now fully entering her adult era, which means conversations have expanded beyond boys, drinking, and vapes. Mostly.
